CCL Industries Acquires In Mould Label Business in Spain
TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / July 6, 2023 / CCL Industries Inc. (TSX:CCL.A)(TSX:CCL.B), a world leader in specialty label, security and packaging solutions for global corporations, government institutions, small businesses and consumers, announced today it has acquired privately held Creaprint S.L., based in Alicante, Spain ("Creaprint").
Creaprint is a specialist in mould label ("IML") producer with a manufacturing facility in Alicante, Spain, and a sales office in Miami, Florida, with 2022 sales of $17.0 million and adjusted EBITDA of $5.1 million. The debt and cash-free purchase consideration of $38.1 million includes $5.9 million invested in a new production facility where operations will relocate later this year. The business will now trade as CCL Label, Spain and become an integral part of the Food & Beverage unit in Europe.
Guenther Birkner, President of CCL Label Food & Beverage, commented, "IML is a rapidly growing decoration technology. The label becomes an integral part of injection or blow moulded plastic containers without the need for adhesives, typically using the same resin material as the container for easy recycling. We are very pleased to have the Creaprint team and the founding Guillem family join us to strengthen our human capital in this important market."
Geoffrey T. Martin, President & CEO of CCL Industries Inc., concluded, "This is an important acquisition to bring IML technology and know-how to our global CCL Label operations."
Coincidentally, the recently announced acquisition of Pouch Partners S.r.l., Italy, from Pouch Partners AG, Switzerland, also closed today.
