A gran has said she is at the end of her tether after a plague of giant slugs have spent months invading her home - even popping up in the cutlery drawer on Christmas Day.
Rose Alexander, of Edinburgh, believes the problem has been caused by dampness in her home. And the 67-year-old, who lives in the Stenhouse area of the capital, has been battling to have the council solve the problem.
Edinburgh Live reports that Rose managed to capture an image of the large slimy beasties outside of her home, where it had attached itself to her food recycling bin.
And she says that the giant gastropods even ruined last year’s Christmas dinner after they got into the kitchen drawer just as she was about to serve up.
She said: "They are very big and they are all over the garden and are getting into the kitchen through the back door. I am fed up of this plague of slugs getting into the house and I’ve been waiting a long time for an appointment so that someone can come and look at the issue.
"They are causing me anxiety and I am finding them everywhere, in the food cupboards and in with my dishes. I am just feeling fed up and depressed that I can’t have a normal kitchen like everyone else.
"Last year I had one in the cutlery drawer as I was about to serve Christmas dinner. I threw the dinner in the bin, it spoiled our Christmas."
She claims she has been unable to get an Edinburgh City Council repair team member out to her home to look at the issue. The council confirmed it is aware of the issue and that they will be looking into the problem.
