Scottish restaurant crowned among best in world at prestigious travel awards
The winners of luxury magazine Elite Traveler's Top Restaurants Readers’ Choice Awards for 2023 have been revealed and one Scottish restaurant appears on the prestigious list.
A Scottish restaurant has been named among the best in the world according to a luxury travel magazine.
Elite Traveler announced the winners of its Top Restaurants Readers’ Choice Awards for 2023, including 85 food spots from across the globe, and Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles is the only restaurant in Scotland to appear on the list.
Named alongside world-famous restaurants such as The French Laundry in California, Restaurant Guy Savoy in Paris, and Blue Hill at Stone Barns in New York, Restaurant Andrew Fairlie is known for being the only two-Michelin star restaurant in Scotland.
Situated within the renowned luxury Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, it offers both à la carte and tasting menus. As well as the restaurant's signature dish of home smoked Scottish lobster with a lime and herb butter, highlights of the menu include wild mushroom & truffle ravioli, pea velouté, and Scotch beef tartare, bloody mary, baby vegetables, toasted hazelnut.

Given its placing on Elite Traveler's Top Restaurants Readers' Choice Awards 2023 list, it should come as no surprise that Restaurant Andrew Fairlie is very popular amongst visitors. Looking at travel website Tripadvisor, it has a average rating of 4.5 out of five based on 961 reviews.
One satisfied customer wrote: "One reason to come to Gleaneagles is this outstanding restaurant. For us one of the best in the world.
"But not only the food is amazing, also the waiters are exceptional good. Hope to be there soon again."
A second echoed: "Excellent, in every way.
"We refuse foie gras for ethical reasons so they offered to swap it out for scallops, which were amazing, possibly the best course actually. Very refined and polished experience."
Meanwhile, a third Tripadvisor user posted: "Fabulous, put this on your bucket list, worth every penny. Food reimagined, taste sensation, engages all your sensations."
The list of 85 restaurants was decided by the magazine's "discerning high-net-worth audience, who regularly dine at the world’s finest restaurants". Readers were asked to name their most memorable dining experiences of the last 12 months.
Other UK restaurants to win the award this year include CORE by Clare Smyth in London, Ynyshir in Machynlleth, and The Samling in Windermere.
More information about all of the restaurants across the world that were awarded can be found on the Elite Traveler website.
Earlier this month, the Gleneagles Hotel was also bestowed the Art of Hospitality Award as part of The World’s 50 Best Hotels awards 2023, for offering the "best hospitality in the world".
